Early life
Day was born in New York whose mother, Mary was a piano teacher at The Pennfield School in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. His father is Dr. Thomas Charles Day who is a retired professor of music history at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. Day spent most of his childhood in Middletown, Rhode Island. Day studied in Pennfield School and graduated from the Portsmouth Abbey School. He took part in the baseball team at the Portsmouth Abbey School, playing shortstop for the Ravens. He took the bachelor’s degree from Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts.
Career
With TV success, Day soon started to explore the big screen, appearing in such films as A Quiet Little Marriage and Going the Distance. Later, he took a large role in Horrible Bosses, a comedy also starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman.
He appeared in New Line Cinema’s Horrible Bosses in 2011 and had a role in the 2010 film Going the Distance. In 2013, he announced the character in Art in the Pixar animated film Monsters University and played his part in Guillermo del Toro’s film Pacific Rim.
Day is also a producer for the television shows How to Be a Gentleman and Unsupervised. In September 2014, Day provided his voice for The Sims 4 TV spots.

Day married to actress Mary Elizabeth Ellis who is the storyteller and author known for her live performances of traditional tales, literature, Texas and Appalachian history and folklore. They met in 2001 and were dating in 2004 when they co-starred as incestuous siblings on Reno 911!. Ellis has a role on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia as “The Waitress”. The couple have a son named Russell Wallace Day.
